Belton Industries’ Style 1918 is a woven polypropylene fabric with both VCI (volatile corrosion inhibitor or vapor corrosion inhibitor) and FR (flame retardant) chemical additives. VCI’s work by emitting a vapor that forms a protective barrier or layer on metal surfaces. It reduces corrosion by causing water molecules to disassociate with metal surfaces. It is ideal for keeping enclosed spaces rust-free.

Along with the anti-corrosive protection, Style 1918 is flame-retardant and passes NFPA 701 testing. This woven fabric provides excellent tensile and tear strength and is abrasion-resistant. For applications that need rust and flammability protection and are prone to rough treatment, Belton Style 1918 is an obvious choice for protective packaging or covering.

Style 1918 is typically used in packaging or safe storage for

  • machine parts
  • motors
  • electrical components
  • weaponry
  • firearms
  • vehicles
  • aircraft
  • watercraft
  • pipeline
  • pumps
  • storage tanks
  • boilers
  • valves
  • and other items that are prone to rust

VCI’s have several advantages over traditional oils and greases as follows:

  1. more cost-effective
  2. much cleaner
  3. protects nooks and crannies not accessible to oil or grease products.
