Challenge/Need
A large retail customer charged a leading furniture components manufacturer with providing an innovative new bedding platform that did not utilize traditional hinges and wire springs.
Objective
Belton was asked by its customer to provide a fabric which could withstand repeated weight/loadings without excessive stretching or sagging caused by loss of elastic recovery over time. Traditionally, wire springs had been utilized to compensate for the loss of elastic memory.
Product Solution/Innovation
After a thorough evaluation of the project objectives, Belton determined the overall fabric strength and elongation characteristics required to meet the needs of its customer’s new product. As a result, Belton’s customer was able to launch a successful new product line which is now being supplied exclusively for the large furniture retailer.
