Challenge/Need
A leading manufacturer of protective covers was looking for a woven scrim as part of a protective covering system. The woven scrim needed to emit vapors which would hinder water molecules from attaching to metal surfaces (rust formation).
Objective
In consultation with the potential customer and a supplier of specialty chemical compounds used in plastics, Belton was able to develop specialized yarns that emitted volatile corrosive inhibitor vapors. The yarns were utilized as part of a innovative Belton fabric which is an integral part of a patented rust prevention shield or cover.
Product Solution/Innovation
Today the protective covers are used in a variety of military and industrial applications. Our customer’s product is a superior rust protection system and we were able to help them meet their product innovation objectives.
